About Me

Me.My name is Lynn. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, with my husband Sir Monkeypants, my six year old son Captain Jelly Belly, my four year old daughter Gal Smiley, and my two year old daughter Little Miss Sunshine.

Turtlehead is my mother’s word for that groggy feeling you get when you’ve overslept. I swear I didn’t know about the poop connotation until much later.

I grew up in a household with three sisters and only one bathroom. I’m really good at holding it.

Then I went away to university for a degree in engineering, where I met my future husband. I made it all the way through without drinking any alcohol or coffee, and without eating any bran flakes. So many wasted years.

After university I got my own little bachelor apartment in Toronto with a bathroom all to myself. I still have happy dreams about that place.

Eventually I got tired of the long distance bills and moved to Ottawa to get married. I worked for many years as a software developer, but now I just stay home and watch game shows and eat bonbons all day, while occasionally calling out to the kids to bring me another soda.

I like to blog about my kids, my TV, CBC radio shows, waste reduction, and why my suburbia is actually a pretty nice place to live.

Some of my pop culture writing has been published in the Ottawa Citizen. I used to have an entertainment website called Sidekick Magazine, and it was profiled in Entertainment Weekly Magazine. You can find a quote from one of my movie reviews on the DVD case for Dancing at the Blue Iguana.

I’m also the brains and brawn behind Blog Out Loud, an annual event for Ottawa-area bloggers. We mix, we mingle, we drink a bit, and then we read — a selection of local bloggers read their favourite post from the past year. Local photo bloggers are also invited to display their art.

If you have a private message for me, you can contact me at lynnturtlehead at gmail dot com.

I’m also on Twitter.

hi. thanks for stopping by my page. i def look forward to taking a look around your blog later. i’m so surprised to hear that you didn’t like season 3 as much as season 2. i think i liked 2 and 3 equally at first. some of the dancers and personalities on 2 were just incredible but i just feel like there are better dancers on season 3. i hope you’re right and season 4 does get better with time. i’m glad you’ll come back next week. sometimes when i’m writing about sytycd i feel like i’m talking to myself. :)
