Who’s Who

I like to use aliases on my blog to give my friends and family a modicum of privacy. Here’s a glossary of who’s who on TurtleHead, for those who are new.

Sir Monkeypants: My adorable and whip-smart husband. He blogs here but I notice he hasn’t updated his blog in ages. Must be because I steal all the good material first.

Captain Jelly Belly: Our five-year-old son. He’s into dinosaurs, soccer, and talking about butts.

Gal Smiley: Our three-year-old daughter. She’s into baking, painting, and avoiding eating at all costs. If you’re ever reading my old posts — really really old posts — we used to call Gal Smiley “The First Lady” for a while there.

Little Miss Sunshine: Our 11-month-old daughter. She likes Goldfish crackers, snuggling with her teddy bear, and spitting up on every surface in the house. Formerly known as the Wee One.

SocialButterfly: My older sister. She has two teenaged kids, Red, a girl, and Football, a boy.

FameThrowa: My younger sister, who lives here in Ottawa and thus who we see more often than most people in our family.

LittleSis: My youngest sister. She has a two-year-old boy, HMan, and a sweet husband, CanadiensFan#1!

ChitChat and AvidReader: My nephews on my husband’s side, ages 7 and 11 respectively. Their parents are the rather boringly named SIL and BIL.

Mrs. Carl Sagan: One of my oldest and dearest friends here in Ottawa; we used to have a website together called Sidekick Magazine. She’s married to Mr. Carl Sagan and they have a boy, a girl, and a boy almost exactly the same ages as our three kids.

MyFriendJen: Duh, my friend Jen. She lives just down the street; our five-year-old boys are good friends. Her oldest daughter is Miss Hilarious, destined to become my kids’ babysitter.

LuckySevens: Another good friend of mine, who takes her name from past unlucky experiences with sevens at poker. She throws an awesome New Year’s Day dinner party every year.

RheostaticsFan: Yet another good friend of mine here in town. She doesn’t have any kids so when we hang out, we actually get to do fun, adult things, which is cool. Plus there’s almost always ice cream involved.

BarkyShark and TheRarGuy; SmokingToaster and CapnPlanet: Two couples that Sir Monkeypants and I have known since university; before I was married I lived on and off with BarkyShark and SmokingToaster. They both live far away from us now but they are still four of my favourite people. They all have LiveJournal IDs so they pop up from time to time as commenters on my old LJ posts.

Princess Charming: Gal Smiley’s best friend, who lives right behind us. Her parents are Queen Charming and King Charming.

BigBro and LittleBro: These are the two boys that live right next door; we see them all the time and both of them are well-behaved and adorable and play awesomely with Gal Smiley and Captain Jelly Belly. Their mom is MyFriendLori.
